The Class 5 series of Les Pauls come with highly graded maple tops, and are made to the highest specifications of the Custom Shop. Exact specs differ instrument to instrument, but all follow the design elements of a Les Paul Standard.

Loaded with BurstBuckers tuned to the best sound relative to their position, they compliment the thick and weighty mahogany body for a rich and full sound. To ensure you don't collapse at the end of a long gig, the mahogany body has been weight relieved with a special process that doesn't affect the rich tone you expect from a dense tonewood. The Class 5 also feels great to play, featuring a 60's profile neck with pearl inlaid rosewood fingerboard. The figuring on this Gibson Les Paul Class 5 Quilt Top looks like the bottom of storm clouds just before a tornado. The brilliant red finish is highlighted by gold transparent top hat knobs, nickel hardware, and a perfectly fashioned bound rosewood fretboard. The electric guitar has loads of natural sustain from the weight-relieved mahogany back and set mahogany neck with long tenon is accentuated by the Gibson Burstbuckers.
